Rock of Agés

With the sun beating down, relentlessly during the day, this pilgrim has found that an early start cheats the heat.

Leaving Belorado in the cool, from Villafranca Montes de Oca, as we crossed the Montrs de Oca, the heat was on.

It was with huge relief , as we made our decent, to stumble on Agés. The routine on the Camino, is an afternoon shower, then siesta, then a further wait till things start opening for the evening. burgers.

We chose a quirky hamburger bar, that was clearly very popular. The chef was cooking in a converted caravan. At the bar, the lady was happy for us to try some wines before buying.

The best of the bunch were ordered with our burgers.

The first wine was a sparkling wine called AC La Rodetta, Frizzante. It is made with Viura and Muscatel grapes. Very pale greeny yellow, almost clear in colour. Light in body, the nose is fresh and reminded me of soft strawberries and sherbet. The taste was gentle strawberries, there was white peach and whiffs of honeysuckle. Beautiful, however it went down too quickly. Definitely give it a go.
